In The Flesh (Incarnational Living)

The greatest miracle of Christmas is the incarnation of Jesus Christ. The word “incarnation” literally means, “in the flesh.” God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to dwell among us in the flesh. What if God had sent an email, a link for a zoom, or He @’d you on social media instead? As ridiculous as that sounds, we should remind ourselves that being present, in person, is the most powerful way to show up in the lives of our family, friends, and church.
Whether it be sitting around the dinner table with your family, sitting around the campfire with some buddies, or sitting in the church service with other believers, incarnational living will always be richer and more meaningful than virtual living. If you have ever gotten a hug when grieving, a high five when celebrating, or a kiss when dating, you know that “in the flesh” is always better than online.
Here is the challenge men: Any time you can choose to be incarnational instead of virtual, you are choosing to be more like Jesus. In appropriate ways, look for ways to lovingly touch the ones you love and remind them you are with them emotionally and physically. They will feel it in more ways than one.
