Three Investments For Men Who Want To Live Forever

Only one life twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” - CT Studd

Many of the things we spend our time, money, resources, and energy on will melt away like snow on a warm spring day. However, the Scriptures make it clear that there are three spheres of life which will last forever. These are the things that are worth investing our lives in.

  1. Invest in the Word of God: Jesus Christ said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." (Matthew 24:35). The Apostle Peter echoed these sentiments, “For, “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.” (1 Peter 1:24-25a).

You cannot be a man of God unless you are a man of God’s Word. When you invest in God’s Word, and deposit God’s Word into your relationships, you are making a lasting impact in yourself and those around you.

  2. Invest in the Soul of Every Relationship: Relationships matter because every soul is eternal. God has “set eternity in the hearts of men,” which means that after we die, our souls live on. We will either live joyfully forever with God in heaven, or we will live in torment forever separated from God in hell. There is no third option. Does this rattle your cage? It should.

Charles Stanley once wrote, "God's plan for enlarging His kingdom is so simple - one person telling another about the Savior. Yet we're busy and full of excuses. Just remember, someone's eternal destiny is at stake. The joy you'll have when you meet that person in heaven will far exceed any discomfort you felt in sharing the gospel."

  3. Invest Earthly Cash into Eternal Causes: Randy Alcorn once said, "You can’t take it with you — but you can send it on ahead." When Jesus talked about storing up “treasures in heaven,” He alluded to the idea that our wealth on earth should be leveraged to support the things that produce spiritual riches.

Despite being the most affluent civilization in the history of the world, the average church goer gives only $17 per week to God’s Kingdom work. If Christians were to begin tithing 10% of their incomes, faith organizations would have an additional 139 billion dollars per year.

Desire that your life count for something great! Long for your life to have eternal significance. Want this! Don’t coast through life without a passion.” John Piper, "Don't Waste Your Life."

Life is too short to waste it on anything less than the things that will last forever. Every man can make an eternal impact when he invests his days with Kingdom purpose. Do not settle for small, earthly trinkets and trifles like cars, houses, clothes, travel, fortune, fame, and the acclaim of men. Dream bigger!

God is looking for good and faithful servants on earth with whom He will entrust even greater things in heaven. Live today, and every day, with eternity on your mind. When you do, your impact will be infinite!
